Well, actually every thirty-something man I know wants one. Aerofex, a California-based company, is making strides toward fulfilling Star Wars dreams. They look pretty cool and the engineering is awesome, but it was only when I read about some potential use cases that I got excited: although they aren’t as efficient as helicopters, they can fly much closer (and more safely) to other objects; they’re being touted as having the ability to go places without roads, which will make search and rescue easier. It also seems to have a lot of military applications, which don’t thrill me quite as much. Bottom line, it just looks like a LOT of fun.
